Makio Hasuike

Graduated from university of Arts of Tokyo in 1962 and started his career as a designer at Seiko. Designed 20 different watches for the Tokyo Olympics held in 1964. Involved in design in various fields in Italy from 1963 and established Makio Hasuike Design, a pioneering industrial design agency, in Italy in 1968. In 1982, set up MH Way, a manufacturer of bags and accessories. As the work of MH Way embraces design, manufacturing and marketing, it provides a first-hand opportunity for direct involvement in the complicated relationship between projects and products.Has been involved in various types of design work, ranging from industrial design to graphics, packaging, shops and exhibitions, ensuring successful projects in Italy and abroad for a period of more than 50 years.Many of his works have been awarded the Compasso d'Oro, Design Plus and BIO, etc. In 2016 he became the third Japanese Compasso d'Oro award for international career sponsored winner. Some of his works are now permanently kept at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Essen Industrial Museum and the Milan Design Museum.
