August, 2009 "Summer Vacation"

This summer, we had a spell of unsettled weather all over the country, so I enjoyed indoor events within a 30 km radius of my house during summer vacation, which was 4 day: Aug. 13 to 16.

On Aug. 13, I enjoyed a play, 'Black Bird,' at a special stage of Aubade Hall in Toyama. There I could feel as cozy as if I were in a small theater; however, the temporary seat was far from cozy. Putting that aside, as a first time two-hander participant, it felt like time went so fast with some kind of immediacy during the show. Masaaki Uchino in person, the star, looked older than I thought. Was it just because his performance was too realistic? The next day, I went out for a movie, 'Amalfi'. The film made me feel like "I want to go to southern Italy!" The voice of Sarah Brightman was amazing. The theme song, 'Time to Say Goodbye' is playing in my head over and over again. My daughter's impression, with whom I watched the movie together, was 'Yuji Oda is awesome.' From Aug. 15, I finally started reading '1Q84' by Haruki Murakami. It is a little too late to do so as one of his fan. Since the vacation is over, I have not had time to read even a page. I am looking forward to weekends to come.

The pitcher from gaio is light and easy to handle. As a consequence, it works great on the dining table. Its 1 liter size, which fits in a door pocket of a refrigerator, is perfect for one bottle of wine with some cut fruits. Another good thing is that the inlet is big enough to reach the bottom with a sponge when washing. Please try it out. (Written by Sumitani, Project Manager)
